About
Melissa Lozada-Oliva is the author of the chapbooks Plastic Pájaros & rude girl is lonely girl! Her poems have been featured in Bustle, Glamour Magazine & The Huffington Post. She is a VONA (2016) alumn, a 2015 National Poetry Slam Champion, a Brenda Moosey Video Slam Winner. She has been an instructor for Slam Camp, a performance poetry summer intensive program, a writer for the Guardian, & an editor for Pizza Pi Press. She currently coaches the Simmons Poetry Slam team & works as a bookseller. She wants to reclaim the word "desperate," believes in saying no, & wishes to hold up mirrors for young girls who have yet to find reflections of themselves.
